Position Summary
Aurex is seeking a highly analytical and intellectually curious Senior Financial Analyst to join our Financial Planning & Analysis team. This individual will partner closely with executive leadership and business operations to deliver actionable financial insights, support strategic decision-making, and help drive operational excellence across the organization.
The ideal candidate combines exceptional financial acumen with advanced technical skills in Excel and financial modeling, possesses outstanding analytical capabilities, and enjoys working with large, complex datasets. Experience in Government contracting financials, investment banking, public accounting, FP&A, transaction advisory, or corporate finance is highly desirable.
This position offers significant visibility to senior leadership and provides opportunities to influence strategic initiatives across a fast-growing defense platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models supporting budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and strategic initiatives.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analyses, executive dashboards, and management reporting packages.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, explain variances, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
- Partner with business leaders across operations, accounting, contracts, business development, and program management to improve financial performance.
- Support annual operating plan (AOP), rolling forecasts, and long-range strategic planning processes.
- Perform profitability, pricing, contract, and program financial analyses.
- Extract, cleanse, manipulate, and analyze data from ERP systems, business intelligence tools, and multiple internal data sources.
- Build automated reporting and improve financial processes through advanced Excel techniques and data analytics.
- Assist with acquisition analysis, integration planning, and strategic financial projects as Aurex continues to grow.
- Develop executive-level presentations and communicate financial insights clearly to senior leadership.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, efficiency, and decision support capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related business discipline
- 7+ years of progressive experience in:
- Financial Planning & Analysis
- Investment Banking
- Public Accounting
- Transaction Advisory
- Corporate Finance
- Consulting or similar analytical environment
- Exceptional financial statement knowledge and business acumen
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- Complex formulas
- Pivot Tables
- Power Query
- Financial modeling
- Scenario analysis
- Dynamic dashboards
- Demonstrated ability to extract, manipulate, analyze, and synthesize large datasets from multiple sources.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information to executive leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Strong attention to detail while maintaining a strategic perspective.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA preferred
- CPA, CFA, or progress toward professional certification is a plus.
- Experience supporting government contractors or defense industry organizations.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Unanet, Deltek Costpoint, or similar platforms.
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, Tableau, or other business intelligence and visualization tools.
- Experience with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or similar AI tools.
- Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, or post-acquisition integration activities.
