Job Description:
Head Coach, Men's Lacrosse and Intramural Coordinator is responsible for the management of all aspects of a successful NCAA Division III men's lacrosse program. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating and administration of the intramural program. The men's lacrosse program will be conducted in accordance with all University, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rules, regulations, and policies.
Coaching/Teaching Duties
Teach and develop sport-specific skills in a successful, safe and prudent manner.
Create, present, and maintain records of up-to-date practice plans for pre-season and in-season practice. Develop drills and procedures detailing the desired goals to be achieved.
Schedule practice and game preparation sessions. Conduct post game analysis and incorporate into practice plans.
Serve as liaison for alumni relations and fundraising efforts for the Men's Lacrosse program.
Administrative Duties
Conduct ongoing recruiting through a variety of methods, with the goal to attract, select and encourage enrollment of high caliber student-athletes.
Initiate new ideas and methods to improve the program in support of the University goal of a successful conference and attainment of a regional level NCAA ranking.
Serve as the Intramural Coordinator, responsible for coordinating, managing and marketing the intramural programs. Manage late night programming.
Assist the Associate Director of Athletics/Recreational Services and Facilities as an evening professional staff presence in the Campus Recreation Center.
Additional Functions
Uphold NCAA, and other conference affiliation rules and regulations.
Fundraise, when required, for the program and coordinate and support fundraising efforts.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in a sports related discipline.
Two to four years' experience in sports coaching and knowledge of the fundamentals, tactics, and strategies of intercollegiate sports with the ability to recruit talented players for the program.
Knowledge of conducting an intercollegiate program within the confines of the rules and regulations of the NCAA, and other conference affiliations including eligibility, recruiting, and fundraising.
Intramural and/or recreational experience.
Ability to function in a service and team-oriented environment.
Ability to function independently, display strong attention to detail, work under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and work collaboratively with a variety of individuals, University community including faculty, students, staff, parents and alumni.
Ability to advise and motivate student-athletes.
Ability to handle student emergencies.
Ability to travel as required.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Available to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in a sports-related discipline.
