Qualifications



We are seeking an experienced and strategic legal professional to serve as our Lead Counsel – Claims, Litigation, and Compliance. In this role, you will act as a key legal advisor, overseeing claims, litigation, compliance, and risk management activities across the organization. You will partner closely with business leaders and legal colleagues to provide practical guidance, support dispute resolution efforts, and help drive effective risk mitigation strategies aligned with organizational objectives.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support the management of legal claims, disputes, mediation, arbitration, and related matters.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external counsel to ensure efficient handling and resolution of legal issues.
  • Provide clear updates and insights on claims, litigation, compliance matters, and emerging legal risks to leadership and business partners.
  • Partner with operational teams to identify, evaluate, and mitigate legal and business risks.
  • Translate complex legal concepts into actionable, business-friendly guidance.
  • Support insurance programs, including renewals, claims coordination, and insurer communications.
  • Deliver training and guidance on legal, regulatory, and compliance topics.
  • Foster collaboration and contribute to the development of legal talent within the team.
  • Stay current on legal developments and industry trends impacting claims, litigation, and compliance.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with a state bar.
  • 10–12+ years of relevant legal experience, including claims management, dispute resolution, litigation, compliance, risk management, insurance matters, or commercial litigation.
  • Strong ability to analyze complex legal issues and deliver practical, business-oriented solutions.
  • Proven experience working with outside counsel and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience supporting compliance, corporate governance, or broader risk management initiatives is preferred.
