Position Description

The employee in this position will provide triage, assessment, and brief clinical intervention services to children and their families. Provide care coordination and work with local providers to help identify the most appropriate resources for students. Work with families and providers to support continuity of care. Assist in managing the day-to-day administrative operations of health promotion services. (Abilene Region) The employee in this classification will be an essential team member of the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) Program.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Consult and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of providers.
  • Administer and interpret assessments and measures.
  • Lead weekly evidence-based group psychological interventions with child/adolescent patients (and their caregivers) virtually (and possibly in person).
  • Develop treatment plans, in accordance with established standards, consistent with assessment, and in conjunction with patients and family, to include goals, intervention, necessary support or referral service.
  • Identify patients with urgent mental health conditions (e.g., suicidal, homicidal, psychotic, etc.) and makes appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Maintain communication (verbal and written) with caregivers, school personnel, primary care providers, etc.
  • Maintain accurate and updated documentation of assessments, interventions, and recommendations, and discharge plans.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal requirements.
  • Maintain communication with clinical supervisor.
  • Update monthly productivity reports.
  • Maintain and update professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, supervisions, staff meetings, workshops, and serving on special committees.
  • Follow policies and procedures of the department.


Occasional Duties

  • Complete additional duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field.
  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate (LPC - A), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) must be working towards LCSW, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - Associate (LMFT-A), Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA).


Preferred Qualifications

  • Post Master's degree Experience working with school-aged children.
  • Post Master's degree Experience in triage and clinical intervention services for children.
  • Post Master's degree Experience working in a clinical setting.
  • Post Master's degree Experience working in telehealth.
