Accountant - Entry Level

We are looking for an entry-level Accountant to join a luxury hospitality organization in New York, New York on a Contract basis. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys detailed financial work and wants to support daily accounting operations in a fast-paced hotel environment. The assignment is expected to last at least 3 months and will focus heavily on transaction review, cash balancing, and payment reconciliation.

Responsibilities:
• Reconcile daily cash activity against records provided by an external merchant processor to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Review credit card transactions and investigate discrepancies by comparing supporting financial data across systems.
• Use Excel to organize, analyze, and validate transaction details for routine accounting review.
• Maintain accurate financial records and prepare clear documentation for reconciliations and outstanding items.
• Support the accounting team with timely follow-up on variances, missing information, and unresolved payment issues.
• Work within PeopleRine to track spending activity across multiple entities and assist with account-level review as needed.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience or training in accounting, finance, or a related business discipline.
• Hands-on ability to perform credit card and cash reconciliation tasks with strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for sorting, comparing, and analyzing financial data.
• Comfort working with accounting systems such as PeopleRine or similar financial platforms.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring tasks accurately and on schedule.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and coordinating with internal stakeholders.

Compensation

$24.70-$28.60 Hourly
