Controller

We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead financial oversight for a manufacturing operation in Newark, New Jersey. This role partners closely with plant leadership to strengthen accounting practices, improve cost visibility, and support sound operational decision-making. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical judgment with hands-on leadership and the ability to work effectively across departments while providing reliable reporting to management and executives.

Responsibilities:
• Direct the facility’s accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records, timely close processes, and strong internal controls.
• Collaborate with plant leadership to evaluate production costs, monitor inventory valuation, and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
• Review financial results and investigate variances to provide clear insights and practical recommendations for operational and executive teams.
• Develop and maintain reports that support department managers and senior leadership in planning, forecasting, and performance analysis.
• Lead process improvement efforts within finance and related functions to increase efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support information technology needs connected to financial reporting and business operations.
• Provide guidance and oversight to accounting staff while fostering accountability, teamwork, and high-quality execution.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, financial procedures, and applicable standards across all areas of responsibility.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a Controller or senior-level accounting role within a manufacturing environment.

• Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory valuation, budgeting, and financial reporting.

• Degree in Accounting or Finance

• SAP highly preferred

• CPA or CMA highly preferred

• Proficiency with financial systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Excel or similar analytical applications.

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Familiarity with document control, document scanning, and compiling records is beneficial.

Compensation

$110,000.00-$120,000.00 Yearly
