Manager, Cybersecurity Operations

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Manager of Cybersecurity Operations to lead and optimize enterprise security monitoring, incident response, and threat management capabilities. This individual will serve as the primary liaison between internal technology teams and an outsourced Security Operations Center (SOC) partner, ensuring the delivery of effective, scalable, and business-aligned cybersecurity services.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical security expertise with leadership, vendor management, incident response coordination, and continuous improvement of security operations programs.


This is a remote, contract-to-hire position for an industry-leader in New Jersey.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the relationship with a third-party Security Operations Center (SOC) and security services providers.
  • Oversee daily cybersecurity operations, monitoring service delivery, alert handling, investigations, and operational performance.
  • Establish, track, and continuously improve security service metrics, KPIs, and SLA performance.
  • Lead recurring operational and strategic reviews with security partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate incident response activities across internal teams and external providers during cybersecurity events.
  • Develop and enhance incident response procedures, playbooks, and operational workflows.
  • Collaborate with security partners to improve threat detection, monitoring effectiveness, and response capabilities.
  • Drive threat hunting initiatives leveraging industry frameworks, threat intelligence, and emerging attack trends.
  • Support cybersecurity readiness through tabletop exercises, simulations, and operational testing.
  • Manage integrations between security technologies, monitoring platforms, automation tools, and service management systems.
  • Evaluate and optimize security operations technologies, including SIEM, SOAR, endpoint security, and vulnerability management solutions.
  • Partner with risk, compliance, and technology teams to ensure alignment with industry security standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support third-party risk assessments and vendor security reviews.
  • Develop executive-level reporting and dashboards related to security operations performance, incident trends, and organizational risk.
  • Translate technical cybersecurity findings into actionable business recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop cybersecurity personnel while fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Contribute to special projects and strategic cybersecurity initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 10+ years of cybersecurity or information security experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership or management experience within cybersecurity, security operations, or a related IT function.
  • Experience managing external SOC, MSSP, or security service provider relationships.
  • Hands-on experience with security technologies such as:
  • SIEM platforms
  • SOAR solutions
  • Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR)
  • Vulnerability Management tools
  • Network Security technologies
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Incident Response
  • Threat Detection and Monitoring
  • Cybersecurity Operations Center functions
  • MITRE ATT& CK
  • Threat Intelligence
  • Security Operations best practices
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and drive operational improvements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to executive stakeholders.
  • Experience developing operational metrics, dashboards, and executive reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, Security+, CASP+, GSEC, or similar.
  • Experience with security automation and scripting tools, including Python or PowerShell.
  • Exposure to cloud security practices across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments.
  • Experience supporting highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with governance, risk, and compliance frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, or similar standards.
  • Strong strategic mindset with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Compensation

$80.00-$125.00 Hourly
