Payroll Specialist
Responsibilities:
• Oversee end-to-end payroll activities to ensure wages, deductions, and related payroll items are processed accurately and within established timelines.
• Review employee timekeeping records, verify reported hours, and make necessary corrections before final payroll submission.
• Generate payroll and human resources reports through Paycom to support routine operations, recordkeeping, and management needs.
• Maintain payroll-related employee data by entering and updating information for new employees, transfers, terminations, and compensation changes.
• Investigate payroll discrepancies, respond to paycheck concerns, and implement timely corrections when issues are identified.
• Compile documentation and data needed for agency audits, grant reviews, and other compliance-related requests.
• Provide administrative support for HR activities, including clerical tasks and coordination of assigned projects.
• Contribute to special assignments and departmental initiatives as business needs arise.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a combination of at least two years of college coursework and two years of related experience requiring strong attention to detail.
• Hands-on experience managing full-cycle payroll, including large-volume and multi-state payroll processing.
• Working knowledge of payroll systems such as Paycom and ADP Workforce Now.
• Familiarity with employee relations matters and the ability to support sensitive workplace situations with professionalism.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional accuracy and follow-through in deadline-driven work.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential human resources and payroll information with discretion.
