Legal Assistant
A respected San Francisco law firm is seeking a Legal Assistant to support its busy Trusts & Estates / Estate Planning practice on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional with estate planning, trust administration, or general legal support experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The role is expected to run through at least October 2026, with the potential to become a long-term opportunity depending on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support attorneys and paralegals in a high-volume Trusts & Estates practice
- Prepare, process, and organize estate planning documents
- Coordinate document execution, signatures, and client communications
- Manage calendaring, deadlines, and scheduling for attorneys
- Open and close client matters and maintain organized case files
- Handle mailings, shipping packages, and other administrative support tasks
- Assist with court filings and related procedural requirements
- Compile, organize, and manage legal documentation
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years of legal assistant or legal secretary experience preferred
- Experience in estate planning, trust administration, probate, or a related legal practice area strongly preferred
- Familiarity with court filings, court procedures, and legal document management
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience coordinating document execution and handling client correspondence
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Basic understanding of estate planning documents and concepts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work onsite in San Francisco
Preferred Qualifications
- Probate experience
- Corporate legal support experience
- Notary commission
- Experience pulling deeds and related property records
- Familiarity with trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents
