Staff Accountant - Accounts Payable

We are looking for an organized and dependable Staff Accountant - Accounts Payable to join a growing biotech organization in Las Vegas, Nevada. This role supports day-to-day payables operations while contributing to monthly close activities, financial accuracy, and compliance with established accounting standards. The position is well suited for someone who enjoys detail-driven work, collaborates effectively across departments, and communicates confidently with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee the timely review and entry of vendor bills, employee expense submissions, and payment requests while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Manage purchase order activity by preparing, validating, and processing documentation in line with approval requirements and company guidelines.
• Reconcile invoices against purchase orders and receiving records, investigating and resolving mismatches to keep transactions moving efficiently.
• Maintain current and accurate vendor account information and address payment or invoice questions from suppliers in a thorough and courteous manner.
• Coordinate recurring payment cycles, helping to prepare weekly disbursements and confirm supporting documentation is complete.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end accounting by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, recording accruals, and updating supporting schedules.
• Help uphold compliance with accounting principles, internal controls, and applicable policies by reviewing transactions and documentation for completeness.
• Provide support for audit requests by gathering records, organizing backup materials, and responding to finance-related inquiries.
• Partner with teams across Finance, Operations, Purchasing, and Sales to improve accuracy in reporting and support efficient financial processes.
• Assist with additional accounting and administrative assignments as business needs evolve.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in accounts payable, accounting, or a closely related finance role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Working knowledge of general accounting principles, including journal entries, general ledger activity, and account reconciliation.
• Experience participating in month-end close and maintaining accurate supporting financial records.
• Familiarity with purchase order processing, invoice workflow management, and accounts payable controls.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications used for reporting and daily accounting tasks.
• Experience with accounting or ERP systems such as NetSuite, Sage, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms is an advantage.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and collaborate across departments.

Compensation

$60,000.00-$75,000.00 Yearly
