The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Villanova University invites applicants for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in Biochemistry to teach in our department, which offers ACS-certified B.S. degrees in chemistry, ASBMB-accredited B.S. degrees in biochemistry, and M.S. degrees in chemistry. The successful candidate will receive a start-up package and a pre-tenure sabbatical.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will contribute to the vibrant curriculum of the department at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, teaching up to 15 contact hours per year (12 in the first year), with courses in biochemistry and in additional area(s) of specialty. The candidate will establish and maintain an active and productive research program, integrate undergraduate and master’s students into research, actively seek extramural funding, and effectively participate in departmental/university and professional service.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Applicants should have a Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience in biochemistry or related fields.
  • Applicants should show potential for success in teaching and research in a predominantly undergraduate liberal arts setting.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least two years of post-doctoral research experience (at the time of application) that broadens the candidate’s expertise.
  • Experience teaching and mentoring undergraduates in both classroom and laboratory settings.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
Some classes are taught in the evenings.
