Description

Titans After School Program Aides work with a group of up to 25 students (TK-8th grades). Daily tasks consist of but are not limited to: student supervision, tutoring, homework assistance, and educational enrichment and must be committed to being a constant presence during all hours of operation. Program aides must have high energy, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to maintain a fun and organized atmosphere.

Must be available to work at least three (3) days a week.

Elementary: Monday through Friday 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Thursdays (Early Release Day) 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Note: District Minimum Days are scheduled throughout the year on Tuesdays: 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.)

Middle School: Monday through Friday 2:45 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. and Thursdays (Early Release Day) 1:25 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. (Note: District Minimum Days are scheduled throughout the year on Tuesdays: 1:25pm - 6:30 pm)

*Please be aware that funding for this position is awarded through a Grant/Contract over a specified period. Employment for this position beyond the current Grant/Contract funding is contingent upon continued funding.

Essential Duties

  • Must implement all Titans After School Program rules and procedures and display professionalism at all times.
  • Responsible for supporting their supervisor by following their directions.
  • Communicates regularly with the Site Coordinator regarding all aspects of the program at the designated site.
  • Must follow all Chain of Command when it comes to reporting any incidents or concerns at site.
  • Responsible for clocking in/out on the site’s desktop computer only and must complete an electronic timesheet and approve own hours on TimeClock as scheduled bi-weekly.
  • Must attend all weekly staff meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with all staff members.
  • Responsible for collecting all attendance documents and any other documents needed at the end of programming daily.
  • Provide students with educational enrichment, including positive youth development strategies, recreation, prevention activities, and the ability to teach youth positive life skills.
  • Provide tutoring and homework assistance.
  • Ensures the students receive constant supervision and provides a safe and supported environment at all times.
  • Implement all Titans After School Program curriculum: Buena Park: Let’s Learn!, Meet the Masters, Math Readers, Battle of the Books, STEM, Comic Books. Must also implement any new curriculum that may be introduced during the school year (Training will be provided).
  • Create and implement an engaging educational curriculum every month upon approval of their direct supervisor.
  • Program aides are responsible for any Titans After School Program property such as curriculum materials and electronics that have been given to them or checked out for use.
  • Staff may be required to provide extra support to students with behavioral challenges
  • Staff will work in a small group setting with students that require extra assistance during the duration of the program and provide extra assistance in the capacity of guideing students to different rooms, guideing students to restrooms, guideing students from the school day teachers to the after-school program.
  • Staff may be required to work one-on-one with any students that require extra support in the areas of behavior, academic support, eloping, or maybe a safety risk to themselves or others due to physical behavior.
  • May need to assist students with toileting needs and toileting accidents.
  • Accurately track students’ progress using the programmatic protocol.
  • May be asked to stay past the scheduled time when students are picked up past normal check-out time.
  • Responsible for managing service learners, interns, and volunteers at the site.
  • Responsible for checking their assigned Fullerton email on a weekly basis to ensure all training are up-to-date and completed by their deadline.
  • Staff is expected to follow all Titans protocols and guidelines.
  • Staff may need to step in or fill in for program instructorsif the program site is short staffed.
  • Staff may need to assist or lead enrichment activities, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Ability to solely manage a classroom of 20-25 students.
  • Understanding behavior management and effective disciplinary techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized with exceptional interpersonal and partnering relationship skills.
  • Ability to keep track of all curriculum and binders at the site.
  • Enthusiastic and highly motivated with team-building skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel) and Google Drive (i.e. Docs, Sheets).
  • Must be flexible, team-oriented, child-focused, and want to make a difference in the lives of students.

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Prolonged sitting in front of computer. Walking, talking, hearing, pulling, bending, may carry 10-15 pounds of objects/material, not exposed to extreme noise level, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, taste or smell.
