Position Summary:
The Operations Accountant is responsible for the execution and integrity of manufacturing finance activities at the Andover Manufacturing site. This role ensures accurate product costing, inventory valuation, month-end close, and operational financial reporting.
Reporting to the Sr Director, Finance, this position supports site performance management by providing timely, accurate cost and variance analysis while ensuring compliance with corporate accounting policies and procurement procedures. The role also executes plant-level purchasing and accounts payable coordination activities in alignment with corporate governance.
Job Responsibilities:
Cost Accounting & Inventory Control
• Maintain and update standard costs for materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead in SAP.
• Validate and maintain accurate bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and production master data in partnership with Operations and Engineering.
• Perform month-end close activities including WIP calculations, variance settlements, and cost allocations.
• Analyze manufacturing variances (material usage, labor, overhead, scrap, absorption) and support root cause identification.
• Perform inventory valuation, reconciliation, and periodic physical inventory alignment.
• Ensure compliance with Group Accounting and Costing manuals.
Operational Financial Reporting
• Prepare and distribute recurring operational cost and variance reports.
• Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting requirements.
• Provide cost transparency to Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain leaders.
• Track and quantify cost improvement initiatives.
Budget & Forecast Support
• Support the Sr Director, Finance in the annual budget and periodic forecasting cycles by compiling operational inputs and validating cost assumptions.
• Assist with financial modeling and analysis as requested.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Global Finance to improve data accuracy and process effectiveness.
• Support implementation of new financial systems, reporting tools, vendor-managed inventory (VMI) programs, and associated inventory, procurement, and financial control enhancements.
• Backup other logistics or purchasing functions as required.
Physical Attributes:
• May sit for extended periods of time.
• Utilize dexterity abilities to operate a computer and other office equipment.
• Spend significant time reviewing detailed financial and operational data.
• May enter manufacturing areas and be exposed to production equipment and tools.
Work Environment:
• General office and manufacturing environment. Noise level is typically quiet to moderate but may vary in production areas. Personal protective equipment may be required in designated areas.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in cost accounting or manufacturing finance.
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in medical device or other regulated industry.
• Experience with standard costing methodologies.
• Understanding of internal control principles.
• Experience working in a multinational organization.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• French and/or German language proficiency.
Salary: $77,000 - $94,000/Annually. The final pay for this position will vary based on geographic location and candidate experience relative to what the company reasonably anticipates for this position.
