Weekly Pay

Our Damage Prevention Specialists use computer utility maps and specialized locating equipment to identify underground cables, pipes, and other utilities. This role helps prevent damages, supports public safety, and ensures excavation work is completed safely.

What You Will Earn

Pay starts at $18.00 per hour and up, depending on experience.

Employees are eligible for an automatic hourly increase of $0.50 after 60 days of employment, followed by an additional $0.50 after 180 days.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive to job sites in response to routine ticket requests, emergencies, and relocates.
  • Use mapping tools, location information, and locating equipment to identify underground utilities including electrical cables, gas lines, telephone lines, communication lines, and other underground facilities.
  • Mark utility locations using paint, flags, and other approved methods.
  • Communicate relevant utility location information to excavation personnel or appropriate authorities.
  • Respond to after-hours emergency call-outs based on the established rotation schedule, when applicable.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements
  • Utility locating experience is preferred but not required.
  • Utility construction experience is preferred but not required.
  • Outdoor work experience is preferred but not required.
  • Must have a positive attitude and a strong focus on safety.
  • Must be able to use a computer and related technology.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in the applicable state of employment.
  • Must be able to work overtime when duties cannot be completed within a normal work schedule.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, full-time schedule with the possibility of weekend work when duties cannot be completed during normal business hours.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, employees regularly:
  • Drive 50 to 200+ miles daily, depending on assigned geographic locating area.
  • Stand and walk long distances, typically 4 to 6 miles, over uneven terrain.
  • Sit for long periods of time while driving.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
