Position Summary
Warehouse Direct is seeking a motivated and dependable IT Intern to join our Information Technology team. This internship provides hands-on experience supporting a corporate IT environment while developing valuable technical and professional skills. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, enjoys solving problems, and has an interest in pursuing a career in Information Technology.
This position offers the opportunity to transition into a full-time Help Desk Technician role based on performance, business needs, and successful completion of the internship.
Responsibilities
- Test and verify new and existing computer hardware prior to deployment.
- Organize, inventory, and maintain IT equipment and supplies.
- Prepare computers, laptops, and peripherals for employee deployment.
- Perform secure destruction and disposal of hard drives and other storage devices following company procedures.
- Assist with computer imaging, software installation, and system updates.
- Provide basic troubleshooting for desktop computers, printers, monitors, and peripherals.
- Replace or install basic hardware components such as RAM, hard drives, keyboards, mice, and monitors.
- Assist with workstation setup and relocation.
- Help maintain accurate inventory and asset tracking records.
- Perform cable management and workspace organization.
- Keep the IT workspace, storage areas, and equipment clean and organized.
- Assist with miscellaneous IT projects as assigned.
- Provide excellent customer service while supporting employees throughout the organization.
Qualifications
Required
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree or certification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent technical experience.
- Basic understanding of Windows operating systems.
- Familiarity with common computer hardware and peripherals.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move computer equipment (up to approximately 50 pounds).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Preferred
- Experience building or repairing computers.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365.
- Basic networking knowledge.
- Experience with Active Directory or Windows domain environments.
- Knowledge of computer imaging or deployment processes.
