General Summary
Act as a liaison and facilitator between Eastern Michigan University and Beibu Gulf University to advance the Engineering and Technology programs delivered to students here and abroad in China.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison or facilitator among both colleges (EMU & BGU) and help with securing related technologies (including instructional, equipment and software) required to deliver courses.
- Work with the Admission Offices to facilitate the admission of new students in the program.
- This includes working with a liaison in admission who can help with translation.
- Supervise GA s and secretary to enter information in banner (with Dean's approval)
- Work with the Dean and Schools' directors to engage faculty and program coordinators in discussions related to personnel, services, supplies, maintenance, equipment, and other needs to support the programs offered at BGU.
- Address the needs and concerns of the students in the program as well as our instructional staff at BGU, including responding to their concerns.
- Be the main contact person for the EMU faculty at the BGU campus in case of any emergency.
- Respond to requests/questions of instructional staff related to the BGU courses.
- Serve on joint committees to help address issues and concerns raised about the program offered at BGU as directed by the Dean.
- Work with Schools' directors to communicate changes to the curriculum in our programs with faculty at BGU (and vice versa).
- Coordinate and compile preferences on the scheduling and teaching assignments of courses offered to support the programs at BGU.
- Work with School directors, registrar and others to advise students regarding such matters as curricular requirements, transfer of courses, and availability of classes.
- Participate in activities needed to promote the programs, GACET, and EMU at BGU and related communities and institutions, including developing promotional material.
- Meet with instructional staff at BGU as needed and share their concerns, opportunities, and any other information that the faculty deem relevant with the Dean.
- Communicate needs for transfer credit equivalency with the dean's office, registrar and school directors
- Prepare course binders and reports needed for assessment and existing and future accreditation.
- Deliver student progress reports as needed by both institutions.
- Work with the Dean's office to help find proper instructors for the courses to be delivered.
- Finalize the schedule for the programs.
- Recommend TAs to BGU classes by working with the Dean's office.
- Teach introductory courses as requested by the Dean or Associate Dean.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Dean or Associate Dean.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master degree in Technology, Engineering, Educational Leadership or related field is required.
5 years of experience in academic setting with substantial knowledge working with international programs/admission.
Preferred Qualifications:
A PhD is preferred.
Working knowledge of Chinese language (written and spoken) is preferred.
