General Summary
Direct, assign and supervise Area Forepersons and other maintenance staff who provide custodial, grounds, and general maintenance support services for designated facilities and/or grounds. Serve as liaison to zone customers for Physical Plant and make recommendations to improve operations in the zone.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct the operation of all custodial, grounds and general maintenance activities within a designated zone.
- Inspect and document completed assignments and determine needs for additional work.
- Order, receive and record materials and supplies for operational use.
- Supervise and maintain assigned zone budgets, including related record keeping and assist with financial budgetary projections.
- Prepare routine and specialized reports as requested.
- Maintain written standards and compile daily time keeping records.
- Communicate with University and zone departments in the completion of service requirements.
- Receive and attempt to resolve employee complaints and grievances.
- Make recommendations regarding operational needs of assigned zone including staff, equipment and materials.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state and local safety codes and regulations.
- Interview, recommend and evaluate assigned custodial, grounds, semi-skilled and clerical staff.
- Maintain 24-hour accessibility for response to zone emergency situations.
- May assume responsibility for a specialized area, such as waste management & recycling.
- Perform related Departmental duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge and skills in problem solving, supervision, organizational planning, and communications, typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field, is necessary.
Experience in related facilities supervision is necessary.
Working knowledge of custodial and grounds keeping methods, techniques, materials and equipment is necessary.
Supervisory experience with the demonstrated ability to plan, communicate, organize and direct the work of others is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a foreperson is desirable.

Work Schedule: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Work Environment: Primarily works in an office environment with responsibilities throughout campus.
