Overview

The starting salary range for this position is $5,900.00 per month depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable.

 

The successful applicant for this postdoctoral position must have a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry with years of extensive experience in designing and operating multi-photon nonlinear laser wave-mixing spectroscopic methods, along with necessary optoelectronics using a wide range of lasers including compact solid-state lasers, for sensitive detection of chemicals, analytes, biomarkers, viruses, cancer cells, etc.  In addition, the applicant must have years of experience in analytical chemistry, separation techniques, especially capillary electrophoresis, chromatography, microfluidics, microarrays, etc.  

 

Under supervision of an SDSU Faculty member, this position is intended to provided mentored advanced training to enhance professional skills and research independence in the postdoctoral academic discipline.



Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities 95%

The postdoctoral research scientist's responsibilities include assisting in:

  • data collection
  • management
  • analysis and dissemination
  • conducting highly specialized and advanced experiments
  • designing research protocols
  • summarizing research findings
  • mentoring undergraduate/graduate students
  • preparing manuscripts
  • attending conferences and presenting at conferences.

Other Duties as Assigned 5%



Qualifications



Minimum Education & Experience

  • A doctoral degree in an appropriate field
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications & Special Skills

  • Must have years of experience in operating multi-photon nonlinear laser wave-mixing spectroscopic methods, using a wide range of lasers, for sensitive detection of analytes, biomarkers, viruses, cells, etc., and in separation techniques, capillary electrophoresis, microfluidics, microarrays, etc.
