Northrop Grumman Mission Systems' Baltimore and Partnered Sites (BaPs) division is seeking a Sr. Staff Systems Integration & Test (SI&T) Engineer Lead in Baltimore, MD to support the Airborne Multifunction Sensors Business Unit.  Candidates should have a very strong knowledge of production and system hardware follow, understanding of requirements, have a strong mechanical background, understand mode and systems integration, and strong earned value management (EVM) experience. The position is responsible for coordinating with Engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to meet program and delivery schedules. This position will work within a team environment consisting of Engineering, program management, technical, production and supporting staff. The ideal candidate will have strong teamworking skills and exhibit comprehensive verbal and written communication/presentation skills. This individual will be responsible for communication of accomplishments, status, and challenges to internal and external stakeholders. This position would be based in Baltimore, MD, which requires being onsite, and does not support remote or hybrid work.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Perform production follow of systems through their life cycle to ensure sell-off and delivery of systems by being responsible for System Acceptance Testing
  • Be responsible for all lab asset configurations by working across teams
  • Support all mode integration shifts and troubleshooting
  • Be accountable to the Program Manager/Director to ensure Systems I&T cost, schedule, and technical execution using application of program management, system engineering, integration & test principles and methodologies
  • Be responsible for horizontal integration across engineering disciplines and IPTs to ensure successful execution of the technical statement of work. 
  • Be responsible for Configuration and Data Management processes and Systems I&T Products verification plans and reports.
  • Provide strong written, verbal, and stakeholder interface skills along with the ability to lead through influence to motivate peer IPT behavior to execute cross IPT team goals
  • Perform CAM responsibilities as needed reporting to Program leadership
  • Participate in the sell-off and delivery of systems, coordinating with Mission and Quality Assurance to ensure sell-off criteria have been met.
  • Development and peer review of test documentation
  • Development and proposal test documentation and technical volumes
  • Decomposition of program and system requirements into test requirements
  • Development of Specialty, Lab, Ground, and Flight Test Programs
  • Definition of test facility requirements. 
  • Participate in test planning
  • Serve as liaison between union technicians and supported program.
  • Frequent interaction with Suppliers including traveling to supplier sites
  • Support management of program risk database

The selected candidates will perform in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings.  The selected candidates are expected to be technically savvy, self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented and possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 14 years of experience, a master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of experience, or a PhD with 10 years of experience in a STEM discipline. An additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Experience with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development (EMD) programs, to include, but not limited to mode integration, system acceptance testing
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience working with personnel from different technical disciplines as well as strong communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated experience tracking milestones and executing tasks in accordance with approved program schedules. 
  • Must have experience generating technical documents and working with various software/data processing tools such as MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and/or other various programming languages
  • Must understand common Test Engineering test methodologies and practices
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance and the ability to obtain/maintain Special Program Access (SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company
  • Knowledge of RADAR Systems
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering concepts, including requirements analysis and verification planning and execution
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate internally
  • Ability to work onsite in Baltimore, MD

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Candidates should have a very strong knowledge of Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development (EMD) and production system hardware follow and integration, understanding of requirements, have a strong mechanical background and strong earned value management (EVM) experience
  • Must have relevant flight and laboratory test experience
  • Demonstrated experience (2 years +) serving as a Program Manager, Deputy Program Manager technical, project or program lead, IPT lead, or CAM responsible for delivering program tasks, milestones, or contract deliverables. 
  • 2 years’ experience supporting the development, integration, testing, or production of sensor systems radar or related mission systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating activities across dispersed teams.  Including collaboration with personnel located at multiple sites, customer locations, or remote work environments.
  • Experience with EP/EMI and Environmental qualification testing

This position is contingent upon transfer of active DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain special program access.

Primary Level Salary Range: $184,100.00 - $276,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
