IT Platform Owner - Microsoft 365
Responsibilities:
• Define the long-term strategy for the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including platform standards, feature rollout decisions, and enterprise-wide service direction.
• Evaluate new Microsoft 365 capabilities and determine whether they should be introduced, delayed, limited, or turned off based on risk, value, and readiness.
• Establish governance controls for collaboration and productivity services, including Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Exchange Online, guest access, and external sharing practices.
• Work closely with cybersecurity and identity partners to strengthen security controls, enforce least-privilege access, and support Zero Trust objectives.
• Lead Microsoft 365 Copilot planning by managing eligibility, deployment sequencing, licensing approach, usage oversight, and data protection considerations.
• Oversee licensing strategy and administration across Microsoft 365 and related security and compliance offerings, while driving usage visibility and cost optimization.
• Manage oversight of third-party application access, app registrations, service principals, and consent practices to reduce platform risk.
• Serve as the senior escalation point for complex Microsoft 365 issues, coordinating cross-functional response efforts and improving service reliability after incidents.
• Represent the platform in governance discussions, providing clear recommendations on capability, compliance, financial impact, and operational health.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.• At least 7 years of experience managing or owning Microsoft 365 platforms in a large enterprise environment.
• Proven expertise with Microsoft 365 services such as Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and Microsoft 365 administration at the tenant level.
• Experience leading governance initiatives and collaborating with teams across security, identity, infrastructure, and compliance.
• Ability to explain technical risk, platform limitations, and security considerations in clear terms for non-technical stakeholders.
• Hands-on background in cloud service operations, including incident, problem, and change management for Microsoft 365 environments.
• Working knowledge of access management, security controls, and data protection practices aligned with Zero Trust principles.
• Familiarity with related technologies such as Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Office 365.
