Payroll Specialist

Calling all Los Alamos Payroll Professionals! Are you an experienced payroll professional who enjoys accuracy, problem-solving, and working in a collaborative finance environment? We are seeking a **Payroll Specialist** to manage biweekly payroll processing, payroll tax reporting, general ledger postings, reconciliations, and compliance with federal and state regulations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while supporting payroll audits, ERP and timekeeping systems, and continuous process improvements. Ideal candidates will have at least two years of payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience, strong Excel skills, and a solid understanding of payroll regulations and general ledger accounting. Experience with ERP systems, governmental accounting, or the public sector is a plus. Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a closely related area.
• Hands-on experience managing full-cycle payroll, including payroll processing for large employee groups.
• Working knowledge of multi-state payroll practices and payroll tax regulations.
• Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now or a comparable payroll platform.
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to review, organize, and validate payroll data accurately.
• Understanding of general ledger activity, reconciliations, and payroll-related accounting entries.
• High attention to detail, strong problem-solving ability, and a dependable approach to meeting deadlines.

Compensation

$28.50-$33.00 Hourly
