Payroll Specialist
We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support a organization through a long-term contract assignment. In this role, you will manage high-volume payroll operations, help maintain accurate employee pay records, and ensure payroll is processed in compliance with established standards. This opportunity is well suited for someone who is highly organized, confident working in PeopleSoft, and comfortable handling complex payroll issues in a large employee environment.
Responsibilities:
• Manage end-to-end payroll processing in PeopleSoft for a workforce of approximately 1000+ employees, ensuring correct calculation of wages, deductions, and applicable taxes.
• Run scheduled payroll cycles, examine audit output, and confirm payment details are accurate before final approval.
• Enter and maintain employee payroll information, including reported hours, compensation updates, and benefit-related changes.
• Investigate payroll variances, identify root causes of processing issues, and correct discrepancies before payroll is finalized.
• Work closely with timekeeping partners to verify that employee time data is transferred accurately into payroll processing workflows.
• Review payroll records for completeness and consistency to support timely and accurate compensation.
• Help uphold payroll accuracy by monitoring system-based calculations and resolving exceptions as they arise.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience handling full-cycle payroll from data entry through final payroll completion.• Background processing payroll for large employee populations, including environments with more than 500 workers.
• Practical experience with multi-state payroll administration and related compliance considerations.
• Proficiency using Oracle PeopleSoft for payroll processing and employee payroll record maintenance.
• Strong ability to review payroll details, detect errors, and resolve issues with a high level of accuracy.
• Solid understanding of payroll components such as earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefits impacts.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage recurring deadlines in a high-volume payroll setting.
