VP of Accounting
Responsibilities:
• Direct the accounting function across business units and legal entities, creating consistent governance, policies, and financial oversight throughout the organization.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities to deliver complete, accurate, and timely financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee core accounting areas such as the general ledger, revenue, inventory, fixed assets, payroll, leases, equity activity, and shared services operations.
• Evaluate key accounting estimates, accruals, reserves, and other significant judgments to ensure sound application of accounting standards.
• Maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP, public company reporting obligations, and internal accounting policies while supporting high-quality external disclosures.
• Partner closely with technical accounting, treasury, investor relations, FP& A, legal, external auditors, and the Audit Committee on reporting matters and complex transactions.
• Manage the relationship with the independent audit firm, including quarterly review cycles, annual audits, and follow-up on audit-related matters.
• Strengthen the internal control framework by overseeing SOX compliance efforts, remediation plans, and continuous improvement of accounting processes.
• Support strategic activities such as acquisitions, divestitures, financing events, equity issuances, convertible debt arrangements, and process transformation initiatives.
• Build, coach, and develop a strong accounting leadership team capable of supporting a growing public company environment.
Qualifications:
• Active CPA license is highly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 15 years of progressive accounting experience, including 8 or more years within SEC-reporting public companies.
• Current or recent leadership experience in a Corporate Controller, Assistant Controller, Director of Accounting, Director of Financial Reporting, or comparable role at a publicly listed company.
• Extensive hands-on experience preparing and reviewing SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, and registration statements.
• Strong command of SEC reporting rules, Regulation S-X, Regulation S-K, disclosure requirements, U.S. GAAP, and SOX 302 and 404 compliance.
• Proven background leading external audits, managing multi-entity consolidations, and accounting for complex transactions such as equity offerings, stock-based compensation, acquisitions, and convertible debt.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to present effectively to executives, auditors, and the Audit Committee.
