Controller
Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily cash activity across multiple entities and develop short-term forecasts to support sound financial planning.
• Produce weekly cash reporting and complete monthly bank reconciliations to ensure balances are accurate and fully supported.
• Prepare recurring journal entries, supporting schedules, and monthly financial statements in a timely and accurate manner.
• Manage payroll-related tax filings and payments at the federal and state level, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and semi-monthly obligations.
• Administer sales and use tax reporting, income tax payments, and required annual or periodic state filings to maintain compliance.
• Maintain fixed asset records, debt schedules, and line of credit tracking while preparing related reports for financial review.
• Support accounting operations tied to freight billing, driver settlements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and independent contractor transactions.
• Coordinate materials for annual internal audit activities, review outstanding financial exceptions, and help resolve open items efficiently.
• Process manual payments, employee expense reimbursements, bonus-related data, and other accounting tasks as needed.
• Contribute to management meetings and assist with special financial projects assigned by leadership.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience in cash management, journal entry preparation, and month-end close activities.• Strong ability to prepare and analyze financial statements with a high degree of accuracy.
• Working knowledge of account reconciliations, general ledger processes, and supporting accounting documentation.
• Experience handling tax filings and regulatory reporting in a multi-entity environment is preferred.
• Advanced organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and other Windows-based tools.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaboration across departments and with external auditors.
Compensation
