HR Generalist

Columbus, OH 43207, US Contract
Compensation: $23.75 to $27.50 Hourly

We are looking for an HR Generalist to support daily human resources operations for a growing construction-focused organization in Columbus, Ohio. This contract position with the potential to become permanent plays an important role in employee onboarding, HR record management, payroll and benefits coordination, and ongoing support for workforce programs. The ideal candidate brings strong administrative accuracy, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with employees and managers in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead pre-employment and new employee administrative activities, including orientation scheduling, onboarding follow-up, and completion tracking for required documents and tasks.
• Maintain accurate employee records by entering and updating information related to staffing, status changes, pay adjustments, leave activity, and separations within HR systems.
• Support payroll operations by preparing and reviewing employee pay information, maintaining documentation, and assisting with wage-related recordkeeping requirements.
• Coordinate benefits support for new and current employees, including enrollment assistance, employee self-service guidance, and responses to routine questions.
• Manage onboarding and offboarding files to help ensure compliance, documentation accuracy, and audit readiness across the employee lifecycle.
• Assist with performance review administration by monitoring evaluation timelines, tracking completion, and supporting leaders throughout the review process.
• Help organize employee-focused initiatives such as wellness participation, recognition activities, company meetings, and internal support programs.
• Partner with internal teams to facilitate access setup, required screenings, and other employment-related processes for new employees and existing staff.
• Provide onsite HR assistance at job locations as needed, offering day-to-day support to employees and managers in the field.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in human resources administration, HR coordination, or a closely related HR support role.
• Hands-on experience with onboarding, employee record management, and HR data entry across the employee lifecycle.
• Working knowledge of payroll support, benefits administration, and compensation-related documentation.
• Experience using HRIS platforms; familiarity with UKG Pro is strongly preferred.
• Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion while maintaining a high level of accuracy and organization.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support employees and managers effectively.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and handling multiple priorities with consistent follow-through.

Compensation

$23.75-$27.50 Hourly
