CAO - Chief Accounting Officer
Responsibilities:
• Lead the month-end and quarter-end close process, ensuring timely completion and strong accuracy across all accounting activities.
• Direct the preparation and review of financial reports, including quarterly certifications and supporting schedules for executive stakeholders.
• Oversee detailed balance sheet account reconciliations and reviews to identify issues, resolve discrepancies, and maintain financial integrity.
• Manage fixed asset accounting activities, including tracking, capitalization, depreciation, and related reporting requirements.
• Provide day-to-day leadership for a 50-person accounting organization, offering guidance to direct reports and promoting accountability across the team.
• Act as the senior accounting leader during the interim period, addressing operational gaps and reducing risk in the absence of ongoing controller leadership.
• Apply sound technical accounting judgment in areas such as revenue recognition, annual close activities, and internal control matters.
• Use Great Plains to monitor accounting workflows, support reporting processes, and maintain reliable financial data for the business.
Qualifications:
• Certified Public Accountant designation required.• Prior experience in a Chief Accounting Officer, Controller, or similarly senior accounting leadership role.
• Background with a Big Four accounting firm strongly preferred, with Deloitte or EY experience viewed favorably.
• Deep knowledge of technical accounting, including revenue recognition, annual close processes, and internal control frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on execution with strategic oversight in a complex accounting environment.
• Experience leading larger accounting teams and managing multiple direct reports effectively.
• Proficiency with Great Plains or comparable enterprise accounting systems.
• Strong risk assessment skills with the ability to stabilize accounting operations during an interim assignment.
Compensation
