Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a construction and contractor organization. This contract position is ideal for an accounting specialist who can manage invoice processing, payment activities, and coding accuracy in a fast-paced environment. The selected individual will help maintain timely vendor payments and strong financial records while collaborating with internal teams to support daily accounts payable operations.

Responsibilities:
• Review and process vendor invoices with close attention to accuracy, approvals, and payment terms.
• Assign proper general ledger or cost codes to invoices to ensure expenses are recorded correctly.
• Prepare and execute payment activities, including ACH transactions and scheduled check runs.
• Reconcile accounts payable records and research discrepancies to resolve outstanding issues promptly.
• Communicate with vendors and internal departments to address invoice questions, payment status, and account concerns.
• Maintain organized documentation for invoices, payments, and related financial records in accordance with company procedures.
• Support month-end accounts payable tasks by verifying open items and helping keep reporting current.
• Monitor workflow timelines to ensure obligations are paid on schedule and in compliance with internal controls.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.
• Hands-on experience with invoice coding, account coding, and high-volume invoice processing.
• Working knowledge of ACH payments, check runs, and standard payment procedures.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct discrepancies accurately.
• Comfortable using accounting systems and spreadsheet tools to manage financial data efficiently.
• Effective communication skills for working with vendors and cross-functional internal teams.
• Ability to stay organized, manage deadlines, and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

Compensation

$25.34-$29.34 Hourly
