Grant Accountant
Our team is seeking a dependable accountant to support financial operations in a mission-driven environment. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals, experience managing grants or fund-based reporting, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be comfortable navigating evolving funding requirements while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and support day-to-day accounting operations
- Prepare, review, and reconcile general ledger accounts and financial reports
- Assist with grant accounting, fund tracking, and compliance reporting
- Support budget monitoring and ensure expenses are properly allocated across funding sources
- Help ensure compliance with GAAP, fund accounting standards, and grant requirements
- Prepare documentation for audits, financial reviews, and reporting deadlines
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records in a timely manner
- Collaborate with internal staff and external partners regarding financial processes and reporting needs
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and organizational information
- Adapt to changing program requirements, funding expectations, and reporting standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience; nonprofit or government-funded experience preferred
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage Intacct and Microsoft Excel
- Solid knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and grant management
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and communication abilities
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.• At least 3 years of accounting experience, with nonprofit or publicly funded program experience viewed favorably.
• Hands-on experience with grant accounting, fund administration, and government-funded financial management.
• Proficiency with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Abila MIP, or similar systems, along with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Working knowledge of fund accounting principles, grant compliance, and financial reporting requirements.
• Strong analytical ability with careful attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work well across teams and with external partners.
• Familiarity with federal housing, homelessness, or Continuum of Care-related funding programs is preferred.
