Construction Attorney

San Francisco, CA 94123, US Temporary
Compensation: $75 to $85 Hourly

The firm is open to attorneys with either a transactional or litigation background, provided they bring meaningful experience in California construction law involving public works, public procurement, construction contracts, construction disputes, or related matters representing public entities.

This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who enjoys sophisticated construction-related legal work while maintaining the flexibility of a reduced-hour schedule. • Support construction-related litigation, including construction defect, design defect, delay claims, contract disputes, bid protests, public contracting disputes, discovery, motion practice, and legal research.
  • Prepare school board agenda materials, governance documentation, and other legal work product in support of client matters.
  • Collaborate with attorneys throughout the firm's Business, Property & Construction Group.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of post-bar legal experience as a California-licensed attorney.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
  • At least 2 years of experience in construction law, public works, public procurement, construction contracts, construction litigation, infrastructure, real estate development, or related construction-adjacent legal matters.
  • Experience representing California public entities, including school districts, community college districts, cities, counties, or governmental agencies, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with California public works procurement, public contracting, and Education Code matters is highly desirable.
  • Candidates with a transactional background should have experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction-related agreements.
  • Candidates with a litigation background should have experience handling construction defect, design defect, delay claims, contract disputes, public works disputes, bid protests, public contracting disputes, or related construction litigation matters.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, client counseling, and communication skills.
  • Candidates local to the San Francisco Bay Area are preferred; however, attorneys located near the firm's offices in Sacramento, Fresno, Long Beach, or San Diego will also be considered.
