Health Information Data Entry Clerk

Compensation: $21 to $26 Hourly

The Health Information Data Entry Clerk is responsible for accurately entering, updating, verifying, and maintaining patient and healthcare-related information within electronic health record (EHR) systems and organizational databases. This Health Information Data Entry Clerk supports the integrity of patient records, ensures data accuracy, and maintains strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and applicable federal and state regulations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Enter patient demographic, clinical, billing, and insurance information into electronic health record systems. Based on general knowledge.
  • Review documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to data entry. Based on general knowledge.
  • Update patient information promptly as changes occur. Based on general knowledge.
  • Verify data entered into systems for accuracy and completeness. Based on general knowledge.
  • Scan, index, and upload medical documentation into electronic records. Based on general knowledge.
  • Identify and correct data discrepancies; escalate unresolved issues to supervisors as needed. Based on general knowledge.
  • Collaborate with clinical, billing, and administrative staff to resolve documentation or record issues. Based on general knowledge.
  • Perform routine audits of entered data to identify errors or inconsistencies. Based on general knowledge.
  • Assist with generating routine departmental and operational reports. Based on general knowledge.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational documentation standards and recordkeeping procedures. Based on general knowledge.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of protected health information (PHI). Based on general knowledge.
  • Adhere to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, HITECH, and organizational privacy and security policies. Based on general knowledge.
  • Follow established procedures for handling and safeguarding sensitive information. Based on general knowledge.
  • Report potential privacy or security concerns promptly. Based on general knowledge.
  • Support departmental projects and special assignments as needed. Based on general knowledge.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in Health Information Management, Medical Office Administration, or related field preferred
  • One (1) year of data entry, medical records, or healthcare administrative experience preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare, behavioral health, or medical office setting preferred.
  • Strong data entry and keyboarding skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of medical/behavioral health terminology preferred.
  • Basic understanding of electronic health records (EHR).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.



Compensation

$21.00-$26.00 Hourly
