Sr. Accountant

Compensation: $90 to $100 Yearly

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support key accounting activities for a marketing business within the energy sector in Houston, Texas. This role focuses on inventory and revenue accounting, monthly and quarterly reporting, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial results. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage reconciliations, reporting, and issue resolution in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee inventory and revenue accounting activities for the assigned marketing entity within the Products Pipeline segment.
• Manage month-end close tasks, including preparing journal entries, reviewing financial results, and analyzing variances against forecasted performance.
• Lead quarterly account fluctuation reviews for both income statement and balance sheet activity, including preparation of backlog-related reporting.
• Work closely with contracts, nominations, scheduling, and business development teams to develop recurring margin and inventory forecasts.
• Coordinate with scheduling and measurement teams to validate trucking-related invoices, process payments, and calculate associated gains or losses.
• Reconcile inventory balances between the general ledger and external shipper statements, investigating and resolving differences promptly.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and counterparties to research and resolve pricing or volume discrepancies.
• Maintain compliance with internal control and revenue documentation requirements, ensuring adequate support for recorded transactions.
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations in BlackLine and assist with other accounting projects and ad hoc assignments as needed.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in energy, natural resources, or a related industry.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close activities, including journal entries and general ledger analysis.
• Strong background in account reconciliations, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
• Knowledge of inventory accounting and revenue accounting principles.
• Ability to perform variance analysis and identify material financial trends or discrepancies.
• Familiarity with SOX compliance and maintaining supporting documentation for controlled processes.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work across multiple teams.

$90,000.00-$100,000.00 Yearly
