The Fleet Service Attendant is responsible for providing daily maintenance and upkeep of all passenger vans in the central fleet. The incumbent is responsible for readying vans for use on a daily basis, to include fueling, and cleaning each van that is expected to be in service. The incumbent also checks all vehicle fluids, wipers, lights, and other safety equipment daily to ensure functionality, and transports vans to and from garages and body shops for repair. The incumbent also performs basic cleaning and checks to the President’s vehicle. The incumbent also assists as needed in the Parking Office, to include driving the University mobility shuttle. The incumbent manages (2-5) student workers throughout the year.
The incumbent also does the installation and maintenance of the Agile Fleet GPS tracking system in all vehicles as well as entering the maintenance details in the Agile Fleet Software.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepares approximately 50 university fleet vans that go out multiple times a day and the President’s vehicle for use daily, to include fueling, cleaning, checking vehicle fluids, tire condition, braking, lights, etc.
  • Work closely with the Transportation Systems Specialist to coordinate scheduling of repairs, daily maintenance, and all other aspects of fleet vehicles.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs with the VU garage, dealership and body shop.
  • Manage and maintain the fleet GPS tracking system for all university vehicles.
  • Monitor and analyze GPS data to support fleet operations, vehicle utilizations, and safety initiatives. Troubleshoot GPS tracking issues with the vendor.
  • Coordination of the installation and removal and transfer of GPS units as vehicles enter or exit the fleet.
  • Follow all safety procedures and Fleet Policies. Maintain and ensure all state and emissions inspections and insurance information is up to date.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle checklists, mileage, repair costs. GPS, Fuel Cards, and EZ Pass unit information.
  • May be asked to fill in as a mobility driver at times when short staffed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
  • 1-3 years experience of prior similar workplace experience or similar campus environmnet is preferred

  • Must be able to operate a 12-passenger van. Must possess a valid drivers’ license and achieve and maintain certification as an approved driver through the Office of Risk Management. Should have some experience with the maintenance and upkeep of vehicles
Equipment Knowledge
  • Proficiency in Agile Fleet and MS Office (Excel), teams.
Other:
  • Must be able to meet and maintain Villanova University driving privileges as outlined by Villanova Risk Management Motor Vehicle Record Policy for Drivers of University vehicles.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
Tools, machinery and equipment used: Patrol vehicle, utility cart, passenger van, two-way radio, Gas pump, citation issuing equipment, GPS tracking systems
Environmental conditions: (any unusual/adverse conditions such as exposure to chemicals, noise, illumination, air quality, weather exposure etc.). Work outdoors for extended period in all seasons. At times, environmental conditions are poor in terms of exposure to weather or extreme heat or cold during normal shifts, as well as during special details and events.
Physical requirements: (items such as lifting, pushing, pulling, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, manual dexterity, walking etc.) Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting. Both gross and fine motor skills are needed, as well as visual, hearing, speaking, touching, and smelling sensory skills.

Salary Posting Information:
This position falls within hourly grade 11 and the range is $24.29-25.64/hr. The final salary will be determined with consideration of several factors including the selected candidate’s qualifications, department budget availability, market data, and internal equity.
