Position Summary

Kinetics Noise Control is seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to support the design, analysis, and development of structural systems used in noise control, vibration isolation, and engineered building products.

This role will play a key technical role within the Engineering group at Kinetics Noise Control, supporting the design and analysis of structural systems used in noise control, vibration isolation, and related architectural, industrial, and commercial applications.

This position will be responsible for structural analysis, beam and member sizing, connection and fastener calculations, anchored and embedded systems, barrier wall support structures, light-gauge and cold-formed steel design, and structural vibration and isolation analysis. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capability, practical design judgment, familiarity with applicable building code load requirements, and the ability to develop buildable engineering solutions for custom applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze structural systems including barrier walls, support frames, equipment support structures, isolation assemblies, anchored systems, and custom-engineered components.
  • Perform beam sizing, member design, connection design, fastener calculations, and anchorage calculations for structural applications.
  • Evaluate structures for applicable dead, live, wind, seismic, and project-specific loading conditions in accordance with governing codes and standards.
  • Develop cold-formed and light-gauge steel designs for framing, bracing, supports, and related assemblies.
  • Perform structural analysis utilizing engineering software, hand calculations, spreadsheets, and other analytical tools.
  • Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) of custom components and assemblies as required.
  • Support vibration analysis, isolation system design, and evaluation of dynamic loading conditions.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, design summaries, and sealed engineering documents when licensed.
  • Review project requirements, specifications, drawings, site conditions, and customer-provided information to define engineering scope and identify technical risks.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing, Design, and Field Service teams to develop practical, cost-effective solutions that meet customer and project requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering standards, calculation tools, design methods, and workflow efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, designers, and cross-functional team members as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable engineering standards, company policies, quality requirements, and safety practices.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; ability and desire to obtain licensure is highly valued.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of structural engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience with custom-engineered products, industrial or commercial structural applications, and building code-based design requirements preferred.
  • Experience designing support frames, structural steel systems, barrier wall structures, anchored systems, and cold-formed/light-gauge steel assemblies strongly preferred.
  • Experience producing professional engineering calculations, technical reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Experience with vibration analysis, dynamic loading, or vibration isolation systems is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with structural analysis software; RAM Elements experience preferred.
  • Experience with SolidWorks Simulation or similar finite element analysis software preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of structural load paths, connection design, anchorage systems, and practical constructability considerations.
  • Understanding of building codes and structural design standards related to steel, cold-formed steel, wind, seismic, and anchorage design.
  • Ability to perform and clearly document hand calculations, spreadsheet calculations, and software-based analyses.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Core Competencies

  • Engineering analysis and problem-solving
  • Structural design expertise and sound engineering judgment
  • Attention to detail and calculation accuracy
  • Technical communication and documentation
  • Project management and organizational skills
  • Collaboration and cross-functional teamwork
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Customer-focused solution development
