POSITION SUMMARY
The contractor shall provide a broad range of administrative support services to the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Science’s (SC) Office of Chief Counsel in Oak Ridge.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
This position is responsible for the following duties:
- Assist the Office of Chief Counsel Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act Officer in processing requests for records pursuant to FOIA and the Privacy Act by performing necessary processing functions.
- FOIA requests - help ascertain the validity of the requests; verify that proposed responses to those requests are complete; and ensure the sufficiency of drafted correspondence before its presentation to the FOIA and Privacy Act Officer for concurrence and/or dispatch.
- Privacy Act requests - Process requests consistent with Privacy Act requirements, including its related regulations, implementing directives, and relevant DOE Orders, and prepare correspondence for the FOIA and Privacy Act Officer.
- Receive documents for placement in the Public Reading Room and processing them, ensuring that they include required information, are in an acceptable form and format, and entering the information into a database for forwarding to the Office of Scientific and Technical Information for internet posting.
- Individual must be able to carefully pay attention to detail, knowing that a considerable portion of his or her time will be devoted to reviewing documents which, on a document-by-document or request-by-request basis, can be hundreds of pages long and can, by their nature, be quite sensitive.
- Individual must also be sufficiently computer-literate to be able to learn how to use the FOIAXpress Database and SharePoint.

EDUCATION/TRAINING
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- An associate's degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- 2-3 years of relevant Administrative Support. Experience in supporting a team of Executive Leadership is preferred.
- Polished verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to use computer systems, Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of record management best practices and procedures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the capability of facilitating, briefing, speaking, and writing compelling papers/products. Exceptional organizational skills, ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks.
- Ability to work cooperatively, collaboratively, and respectfully with people inside and outside the organization to achieve mission goals.
