Cardiac Anesthesiologist
Position Overview
Prosource360 is seeking a highly qualified Board-Certified Cardiac Anesthesiologist to provide comprehensive anesthesia services for the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System. The selected physician will deliver high-quality perioperative care for cardiac surgical patients while supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs' mission of providing exceptional healthcare to our nation's Veterans.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in cardiac anesthesia, transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), and perioperative patient management, with a strong commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide anesthesia care for cardiac and major vascular surgical procedures.
- Perform pre-anesthesia evaluations and develop individualized anesthesia care plans.
- Administer general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC) as appropriate.
- Perform and interpret Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) during cardiac surgical procedures.
- Monitor patients throughout the perioperative period and provide post-anesthesia care.
- Respond to anesthesia-related emergencies and participate in rapid response situations.
- Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, perfusionists, nursing staff, intensivists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation within the VA electronic medical record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review, and patient safety activities.
- Adhere to all VA policies, Joint Commission standards, and federal healthcare regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency.
- Fellowship training in Cardiac Anesthesiology (preferred).
- Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license.
- Current DEA registration (if applicable).
- U.S. Citizenship (required for most VA contract positions).
Required Certifications
Candidates must possess and maintain the following certifications:
- Board Certification in Anesthesiology (American Board of Anesthesiology or equivalent)
- Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship-trained in Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology.
- Experience providing anesthesia services within a Veterans Affairs or Department of Defense healthcare system.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (CPRS/Cerner preferred).
- Experience in high-acuity cardiac surgical environments.

Compliance Requirements
In accordance with the contract Performance Work Statement (PWS), the selected physician must:
- Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and credentials in good standing.
- Perform within approved clinical privileges and scope of practice at all times.
- Maintain Board Certification or Board Eligibility in accordance with American Board of Anesthesiology standards.
- Complete all mandatory VA training requirements within required timeframes.
- Comply with all VA Privacy, HIPAA, and confidentiality requirements.
- Meet VA quality, patient safety, and performance standards, including participation in ongoing professional practice evaluations (OPPE).
