Department Overview

The OHSU-PSU School of Public Health (SPH) is aligned with the American Public Health Association in declaring racism a public health crisis, and our School is committed to becoming an antiracist SPH. The Infectious Diseases Research Group is based out of the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. The group specializes in evaluations of infectious disease, in individual patients and the population as a whole. The group’s experts are national leaders in two rare diseases that predominantly affect the lungs – nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM disease), and bronchiectasis.

This student worker position will support several projects for the IDRG. Research projects include supporting the national Bronchiectasis Research Registry, which includes individuals with either bronchiectasis or nontuberculous mycobacterial lung disease, clinical trials in NTM disease or bronchiectasis, and other clinical research focusing on infectious diseases. Responsibilities include performing chart abstraction, data entry, literature review, and interfacing with research participants. This position is an on-site position.

Function/Duties of Position
  • Perform chart data abstraction from OHSU’s electronic medical record (EMR);
  • Enter data into different databases;
  • Calling research participants to schedule vists;
  • Special projects, for example literature review.

Required Qualifications
  • Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in Graduate Program minimum 4.5 credit hours)

  • Ability to perform the job duties with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Any clinical research experience 

  • Experience interacting with research participants

  • Experience with literature reviews

  • Experience abstracting data from EMR (e.g. Epic)

  • Strong written, verbal comminication and proficeincy in MS Office Suite; meticulous record keeping and organization skills. 


Additional Details

Several days a week, up to a total of 20 hours per week. The scheduled days will be decided between the student worker and the hiring manager. Work schedule shold be flexible and will vary depending on study needs. Prolonged sitting and screen time. This position is remote-only.
