Function of Position:

The Engineering Technologies Department is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in the Mechanical Technology program for the Fall 2026 semester. The Mechanical Technology program is housed in the Engineering Technology Department along with Applied Integrated Technology, Construction Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, and Optical Systems Technology programs. The department welcomes candidates who are committed to MCC's mission of preparing diverse leaders to achieve scholarly, professional, and individual success within a local and global context. In addition to excellent academic credentials, candidates should have a desire to work in a diverse and dynamic environment, be able to demonstrate a love of teaching, have a desire to create partnerships with local industry, and have the ability to design innovative learning experiences to explain technology concepts. Highly motivated candidates should also demonstrate a passion for lifelong learning and continuous improvement in the classroom.

Tenure-track faculty teach classes, develop new educational materials, assist with curriculum review and assessment, perform professional duties, and participate in departmental and institutional functions, including department meetings and committee work. Tenure-track faculty report to the chairperson of the Engineering Technologies Department. Academic departments are led by a peer who serves as a department chair for a three-year term. All tenure-track faculty are in the pool from which the chair is appointed. Faculty are responsible for preparing and teaching courses in the department and will be assigned to the Brighton Campus. Tenure-track faculty may be expected to teach at another campus, extension site, or in an online, remote, and/or hybrid modality. The successful candidate will bring expertise in Mechanical Technology to MCC.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will, in addition to teaching responsibilities, be willing to assist in the growth and improvement of the Mechanical Technology program as well as the Engineering Technology Department. These responsibilities include working with the local industry to ensure relevant program content, master schedule management, and working as a liaison for workforce development training opportunities.

  • Demonstrates and maintains current subject area knowledge.
  • Teaches courses and evaluates student performance as per guidelines set by the department and Monroe Community College.
  • Teaches multiple courses/sections each term, as outlined by the contract.
  • Prepares lesson plans and creates instructional materials and activities for student engagement.
  • Prepares Course Information Sheet/Syllabus/Outlines in accordance with department and College guidelines.
  • Establishes and maintains an engaging and supportive classroom environment.
  • Maintains student attendance records, grades, and other records according to department and College guidelines and submits them in a timely manner.
  • Maintains office hours according to contractual guidelines in order to support student learning.
  • Advises students concerning academic, career, and related issues according to contractual guidelines.
  • Assists the department with student recruitment, enrollment, and placement.
  • Assists the department with student retention and completion initiatives, including early alert.
  • Assists with development, review, and revision of department curriculum, including assessment of student learning and program review.
  • Develops innovative teaching pedagogies to facilitate learning
  • Incorporates high-impact teaching practices into course design.
  • Attends department meetings as a contributing member.
  • Contributes to the College through Division, department, and College committee participation.
  • Actively engages in pedagogical and academic discipline professional development.
  • Assists the department in faculty recruitment and peer evaluation.
  • Assists in the development of grant proposals and implementation of grant projects.
  • Works independently and in a team setting, demonstrating excellent time management skills to prioritize workflow and multitasking.
  • Revises the program and curriculum, advises students, finds and schedules adjuncts, and assembles and operates an advisory board for the Mechanical Technology program leadership.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities assigned by the department chair and may be assigned courses at any MCC campus or extension site location.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical and/or Electromechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology, or equivalent, from a regionally-accredited higher education institution.
  • Minimum of three years of industrial experience.
  • Ability to teach most or all of the nine Mechanical Engineering Technology courses listed under the Mechanical Technology Program.
  • Ability to teach courses listed under the Mechanical Technology and Applied Integrated Technology program.
  • Familiarity with computer skills/CAD and Excel/MS Office Suite, and Solid Modeling Software.
  • Experience with design, construction, operation, and use of robots and process automation equipment, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing.
  • Previous teaching experience with implementing a variety of teaching strategies, preferably at the community college level.
  • Experience generating course curriculum and/or lab activities.
  • Experience generating fabrication prints utilizing Solid Modeling software and applying Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T).
  • Commitment to supporting an inclusive campus environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned master's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent, from a regionally accredited higher education institution.
  • Five years + experience working in the Mechanical Engineering Field.
  • Familiar with the ABET Accreditation process.
  • Knowledge of, or previous teaching experience, especially with implementing a variety of teaching strategies.
  • Awareness of the potential value of technology as a tool for teaching.
  • Experience generating course curriculum and/or lab activities.
  • Experience generating fabrication prints utilizing Solid Modeling software and applying Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T).
  • Experience with computerized student record management.
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish or other languages proficiently.


Additional Information:

Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity, and college budget. This position has a range of $52,000 to $64,000 and is based on these mentioned factors.
