Position Description
Performs professional level work at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center by conducting classes on a per-course or limited-term basis, without any guarantee of continuing employment.
Responsibilities encompass the coordination and instruction of one or more courses within a prescribed curriculum. Teachers in this classification usually specialize in the academic subject, professional discipline or technical skill being taught at the time of employment.
Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based upon results obtained. May supervise subordinate employees assigned to area of responsibility.

Major/Essential Functions
- Teach courses within the online Master of Science in Counseling programs(i.e., Addiction Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling) as assigned by the program director(s)in synchronous and asynchronous formats.
- Facilitate meaningful discussions, promote critical thinking, and provide constructive feedback to students to foster their professional growth.
- Collaborate with program faculty and staff to continuously enhance the quality and effectiveness of the program curriculum and educational experiences.
- Demonstrate excellent communication abilities, effectively conveying information and ideas both verbally and in writing.
- Exhibit strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Apply advanced practice knowledge and skills in one or more of the following areas: professional counseling orientation and ethical practice, multiculturalism, human growth and development, career development, counseling and helping relationships, group counseling and group work, assessment and testing, research and program evaluation, clinical supervision, addiction counseling, clinical mental health counseling, and/or clinical rehabilitation counseling.
Required Qualifications
- Earned doctorate degree from a CACREP-accredited program. (Will consider those who are All But Dissertation (ABD)and working toward a doctoral degree in a CACREP-accredited program.)
- Online teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years' clinical experience as a licensed and/or credentialed counselor.
- Current counseling licensure.
- 3 years' teaching experience in clinical counseling.
