$31.05 - $32.75 depending on hire date

Nature & Scope:

The person in this role will study production processes and component parts, in which they will apply CI tools to continuously improve the performance (quality and quantity) of product finishes in the Lumicoat and DST production areas. This position requires a person who will support the transformation to a Lean and Team-based production facility through their application of CI tools and problem-solving methodologies. The person will train and engage team members in Lean tools, coach to develop team members, and provide ongoing feedback to them. A CI Technician must be able to perform the essential duties well, (accurate, time based and organized), be customer-focused, have a positive attitude, and be willing to work overtime. The person must desire to improve themselves and the business processes they work in.

Essential Duties / Tasks (including but not limited to):

  • Facilitate CI events (Kata, Kaizen, etc.) on production processes and component parts to improve the performance and efficiency of finishes.

  • Measure critical factors of processes and component parts

  • Analyze data on the performance of processes and finishes

  • Determine root cause of problems with processes and component parts

  • Identify improvement opportunities

  • Make or recommend improvements to be made

  • Report out on CI events, projects, and opportunities

  • Update technical information on Glass Walls

  • Create standard work instructions

  • Audit standard work

  • Provide direction to hourly team members on the Masco Production System, Shop Floor Management (SFM) system, CI tools including 5-S, Waste Elimination, Standard Work, Auditing, Time Studies, and Problem Solving (e.g., PDCA and KATA)

  • Work safely while performing job duties.

  • Make hazard observations or observe unsafe actions and report both using Delta’s standard procedures.

  • Perform housekeeping duties consistent with 5S and visual workplace standards.

  • Accept / Reject parts to DS-500 specifications.

  • Perform ERGO stretches.

  • Balance workload between 2 manufacturing areas autonomously.

  • Support scheduled and unscheduled overtime as a requirement of the role.

  • Other duties as required

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Prior experience as a Lumicoat and DST Technician is preferred.

  • Forklift, Marklift and Crane Training are required.

  • HS degree or HS equivalency diploma is recommended.

  • Safe manufacturing operations to include Team Member safety

  • Knowledge of product quality (success rates), throughput delivery and cost control (minimizing downtime and waste, optimizing yield)

  • Prior education, training and experience in Lean, CI tools and problem-solving methodologies

  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Ability to direct, coach, and train associates

  • Proficient using Excel, PowerPoint, or similar spreadsheet software.

  • Ability to work independently or with limited supervision.

  • Acceptable disciplinary performance – Employees who have received a written warning (first or second) are not eligible for promotions or transfers for a minimum of six months after receiving that warning.

  • Acceptable attendance performance - Employees who have six or more points are not eligible for promotions or transfers.

  • A human performance evaluation or HPE is an evaluation of a person’s physical ability to do a job.  HPE may be required of the applicant or employee to determine if they are physically able to perform different tasks related to skills that are critical for success on the job, such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.

Qualifications:

Language Skills

The individual should have the ability to read and interpret documents like safety rules, Delta specifications, Standard Work Instructions, job instruction documents, and aspects of Delta’s MOS (Masco Operating System), SFM (Shop Floor Management) system, QMS (Quality Management System) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.

Mathematical Skills

The individual must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

The individual must have the ability to apply reason and understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.  The person must be able to understand basic reports and daily business requirements.
