Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a fast-paced finance team in New York, New York. This Contract position is ideal for someone who brings strong invoice processing experience, attention to detail, and confidence handling vendor payments. The person in this role will help maintain accurate payables records, ensure timely disbursements, and contribute to smooth day-to-day accounting operations.

Responsibilities:
• Review incoming invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper approval before processing them for payment.
• Assign general ledger codes to invoices and expenses in line with company policies and accounting standards.
• Process accounts payable transactions efficiently while keeping payment schedules organized and up to date.
• Prepare and issue vendor payments through ACH transactions and scheduled check runs.
• Reconcile payable records and investigate discrepancies to resolve billing or payment issues promptly.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to answer questions and clarify invoice details.
• Maintain organized financial documentation and support audit readiness through accurate recordkeeping.

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience working in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.
• Strong understanding of invoice coding, account allocation, and accounts payable workflows.
• Practical experience processing ACH payments and coordinating check disbursements.
• High level of accuracy with the ability to manage detailed financial information consistently.
• Solid organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
• Clear and detail-focused communication skills for working effectively with vendors and internal teams.

Compensation

$33.25-$38.50 Hourly
