Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity in West Springfield, Massachusetts. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing close activities, and ensuring balance sheet integrity through detailed reconciliation work. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to manage accounting tasks with accuracy and consistency in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly close activities by preparing, reviewing, and finalizing accounting entries within established deadlines.
• Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger by analyzing account activity and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and adherence to accounting standards.
• Perform detailed account reconciliations to verify balances and investigate variances across key financial accounts.
• Complete bank reconciliations regularly to ensure cash activity is properly recorded and outstanding items are addressed.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather financial data, clarify transactions, and support accurate period-end reporting.
• Review financial records for completeness and consistency, identifying areas that require correction or follow-up.
• Assist with accounting process updates or system-related changes as needed while preserving reporting accuracy and internal control standards.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of accounting experience, including work in a senior-level accounting capacity.
• Demonstrated expertise in month-end close procedures and maintaining general ledger accuracy.
• Strong experience preparing journal entries and supporting them with clear, organized documentation.
• Hands-on background in account reconciliation with the ability to research and resolve variances independently.
• Proven experience performing bank reconciliations and managing cash-related accounting activity.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and attention to detail in financial reporting.
• Ability to prioritize deadlines, work independently, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Compensation

$39.59-$45.84 Hourly
