Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role will contribute to accurate financial reporting by managing payables, receivables, reconciliations, and daily transaction records. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge and a consistent approach to maintaining organized, reliable financial data.

Responsibilities:
• Record and maintain day-to-day financial activity with a strong focus on accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
• Manage invoice processing and coordinate timely vendor disbursements to support efficient accounts payable operations.
• Examine accounts payable records, resolve discrepancies, and reconcile vendor statements to keep balances current.
• Post lockbox activity and apply incoming customer payments correctly to the appropriate accounts.
• Assist with collections activities and handle accounts receivable tasks to improve cash flow and aging performance.
• Track outstanding member receivables and communicate with account holders regarding past-due balances.
• Prepare account reconciliations and support month-end closing tasks to ensure dependable financial reporting.
• Contribute to ad hoc assignments and special accounting initiatives as directed by the Accounting Manager.

Qualifications:

• Experience in staff accounting or a related accounting position with responsibility for both payables and receivables.
• Working knowledge of corporate tax concepts, including exposure to corporate tax returns and sales tax processes.
• Ability to prepare and post journal entries accurately within the general ledger.
• Strong reconciliation skills with the ability to identify variances and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Proficiency in maintaining organized financial records and processing high-volume transactions with attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to follow up on outstanding balances in a detail-focused manner.

Compensation

$62,000.00-$63,000.00 Yearly
