AWS Cloud Engineer/Linux Admin

We are looking for an AWS Cloud Engineer to join a collaborative healthcare technology environment in San Antonio, Texas. This contract opportunity is ideal for a hands-on cloud specialist who combines strong AWS knowledge with deep Linux administration experience and can contribute quickly to infrastructure stability and modernization efforts. The role supports enterprise cloud operations, platform performance, and ongoing engineering improvements in a primarily onsite setting with some flexibility when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and improve AWS-based infrastructure to support availability, performance, and operational resilience across enterprise systems.

• Administer Linux servers in production environments, with a focus on configuration, troubleshooting, patching, and day-to-day system reliability.

• Contribute to long-term workload replatforming efforts by helping move key services from Windows-based environments to Linux.

• Manage core cloud components including compute, storage, networking, and security services within AWS.

• Support application hosting environments by performing service updates, deployments, enhancements, and ongoing operational tasks.

• Partner with engineering teams, leadership, vendors, and operations stakeholders to deliver cloud improvements aligned with business needs.

• Evaluate storage usage patterns and optimize AWS storage tiers to improve efficiency, access, and cost management.

• Assist with cloud architecture buildout activities and implement scalable solutions within an established AWS environment.

• Help maintain secure network connectivity and cloud design standards for critical healthcare-related workloads.

Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of hands-on experience working in AWS cloud environments.

• Strong Linux systems administration experience in enterprise or production settings.

• Practical knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, Auto Scaling, storage, networking, and security controls.

• Ability to work within an existing cloud environment and enhance reliability, scalability, and operational performance.

• Experience supporting infrastructure modernization or platform migration initiatives.

• Familiarity with automation or configuration tools such as Ansible.
