Sr. Property Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily and monthly reconciliation of property bank accounts, investigate outstanding items, and ensure issues are cleared promptly.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including fixed asset activity and capitalization entries, while identifying and correcting variances.
• Prepare mortgage and escrow account reconciliations and follow through on any discrepancies to maintain accurate records.
• Create and post journal entries related to accruals, reclassifications, depreciation, amortization, and other month-end accounting activity.
• Review monthly management fee calculations for accuracy before submission for approval.
• Assemble complete property financial reporting packages and provide additional supporting financial information as needed.
• Evaluate account activity and financial trends, then communicate notable findings to support decision-making.
• Contribute to the annual budgeting cycle and provide support for year-end audit and tax preparation requirements.
• Participate in special assignments and ad hoc projects that support the broader accounting team and business needs.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.• At least 5 years of accounting experience, with prior exposure to property or real estate accounting strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
• Proficiency with accounting systems, including Yardi as a preferred platform.
• Experience with month-end close, general ledger activity, and accrual-based accounting.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and solid proficiency with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe applications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines, manage competing priorities, and maintain discretion in a paperless, technology-driven environment.
Compensation
