Time Type: Full time
Location: Waltham, MA

Job Description Summary

The Law Department at Bentley University is seeking applicants for a tenure track, full-time position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2027. While class sizes may vary, Law courses are generally capped at 35 students.

The department seeks to acquaint students with the legal consequences of their business decisions, as well as to help them understand the role of law in society beyond the business world. The role requires teaching our undergraduate business law class and, possibly, our graduate course in law, ethics, and social responsibility. We seek candidates who can also add to our strengths in Health Law, Securities Law, and social justice law courses. Candidates with the ability and willingness to teach in one or more of these areas are especially attractive.

In addition to teaching, the chosen candidate will be expected to publish high quality and impactful scholarship in respected academic journals, engage in service to both the Department and the University, and participate fully in the Department and University communities. Applicants must also be willing to work with students outside the classroom in a variety of capacities (e.g., advising students, engaging outside speakers, advising student organizations, working with service learning and career services, or other relevant activities).

The Law Department currently offers both an undergraduate Business Law Major and a Law Minor. Both the Major and Minor seek to serve a broad range of business students and are not intended as preparation for law school. Instead, they provide an in-depth study of business laws that impact specific arenas of a business enterprise, while also offering an examination of the intersection of business laws with other laws, including those that attempt to address public policy and social justice issues.

The Department offers Pre-Law Advising to students interested in attending law school. We also seek to actively engage with students through our Adamian Law Club and Moot Court Team. More information about the Bentley University Law Department is available at: Bentley University Law Department
