Job Summary:
The Ed.L.D. Resident will work with the Deeper Learning Institute and will launch and lead the Deeper Learning Alliance—a national professional community that brings together innovative school and system leaders committed to transforming education through deeper learning. The Resident will lead this initiative from the ground up, shaping the strategy, recruit and support members, design transformative learning experiences, cultivate partnerships, and steward a vibrant community of educational leaders working to create more human-centered schools. During the residency the Resident will develop a Capstone project as part of their degree requirement. This is a 10 month placement.

The Deeper Learning Alliance is a growing professional community for school and district leaders committed to reimagining education for today's world. Members learn together, experiment together, and support one another as they transform classrooms, schools, and systems into places where every learner can develop agency, purpose, expertise, belonging, and civic capacity.
Guided by the intellectual leadership of the Deeper Learning Institute at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the Alliance combines cutting-edge ideas with practical implementation, creating a community where leaders can deepen their practice while contributing to a broader movement for educational transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Launch and Grow the Alliance
- Lead the successful launch and ongoing growth of the Deeper Learning Alliance.
- Develop and execute strategies for member recruitment, retention, and engagement.
- Build a diverse national community of school, district, and educational leaders.
- Create systems that foster meaningful connections, collaboration, and peer learning.
- Continuously refine the Alliance based on member feedback and emerging opportunities.
Design Exceptional Member Experiences
- Design and facilitate virtual and in-person learning experiences for members.
- Curate content, speakers, and learning opportunities aligned with the principles of deeper learning.
- Develop resources, discussion guides, and tools that support leaders in applying ideas within their own contexts.
- Foster a culture of trust, curiosity, experimentation, and shared learning.
Community Building
- Build authentic relationships with members and partners.
- Facilitate ongoing engagement through coaching, peer networks, online discussions, and collaborative projects.
- Support members in sharing challenges, innovations, and successes across the community.
- Cultivate an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are welcomed and valued.
Strategy and Partnerships
- Work closely with DLI leadership to shape the long-term vision and strategy for the Alliance.
- Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships with schools, districts, organizations, and thought leaders.
- Collaborate across DLI initiatives to strengthen connections between research, professional learning, and community building.
- Represent the Alliance at conferences, convenings, and public events.
Operations and Program Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Alliance.
- Manage program timelines, budgets, communications, and member systems.
- Track participation, member engagement, and program outcomes.
- Develop processes that enable sustainable growth while maintaining a high-quality member experience.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Must be a current Ed.L.D. Student in their residency year and have
- Minimum 7 years of experience in education, leadership development, professional learning, nonprofit leadership, or community building.
- Experience leading complex projects from concept through implementation.
- Experience designing adult learning experiences.

- Outstanding facilitation and group leadership skills.
- Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Strong strategic thinking paired with excellent organizational skills.
- Comfort working in an entrepreneurial environment where new ideas are rapidly developed and tested.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Passion for transforming education and advancing deeper learning.
- Experience as a school or district leader.
- Experience building membership organizations or professional communities.
- Familiarity with deeper learning, human-centered education, instructional improvement, or systems change.
- Experience with event planning and convening leaders across diverse contexts.
- Experience managing partnerships and external stakeholders.
- Appointment End Date: This is a 10 month placement.
- Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week

This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on . Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location.
