Environmental Scientist-Senior
We are seeking a full time remote mid- to senior-level environmental professional with expertise in environmental compliance, environmental quality, natural resources, and/or National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to provide specialized technical and program support to multiple environmental projects nationwide.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and launch new environmental quality and compliance projects as our portfolio expands
- Support environmental programs and project staff with specialty expertise in multiple areas, including:
- Environmental compliance, including air, stormwater, wastewater, hazardous materials, solid waste, Pollution Prevention (P2)
- Reporting (EPCRA, SWPPP, SPCC, MS4, etc.)
- Natural resources
- National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
- Mentor and develop junior environmental staff, fostering technical growth and preparing future leaders for key project roles
- Conduct specialized job training for project staff
- Support development of environmental plans, permits, and program documents
- Conduct internal quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) on technical documents prepared by project staff
- Track Federal, state and local regulatory updates
- Review and interpret technical data
- Provide subject-matter consultation to project managers and clients
- Provide technical reach back support for environmental subject matter areas
- Occasional travel to project sites may be required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) or higher in an environmental field
- Minimum of 8 years of directly relevant experience in environmental compliance, environmental quality, natural resources, or NEPA. Specialized expertise in more than one field or media preferred
- Technical report writing experience
- Demonstrated experience with EESOH-MIS, HMID, WET, STAR, and/or APIMS strongly preferred.
- Motivated, outgoing self-starters requested
- Demonstrated leadership in managing environmental projects and teams
- Experience conducting or overseeing fieldwork
- Knowledge and experience with Department of War requirements for managing environmental compliance and/or natural resources
- Knowledge of and experience interpreting and implementing Federal, state, and/or local regulations and statutes
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while communicating effectively across distributed teams
- Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to evolving project needs
