Multimedia Content Creator
The Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team seeks a content strategist to create high-quality video and multimedia content on tight timelines, including shorts, interviews, mini-documentaries, and photography. The Multimedia Content Creator is a member of the centralized Marketing & Communications team responsible for capturing moments and producing compelling visual stories that advance Roger Williams University's brand, enrollment, engagement, and institutional reputation.
Reporting to the Senior Director for Brand Management, this role partners with the University's client-service teams to create high-impact video, photography, and multimedia content across campus, academic life, and institutional initiatives. This role is for a dynamic visual storyteller who can compel audiences to engage, connect, and give. Must be able to manage multiple concurrent productions while balancing institutional priorities, campaign deadlines, and event coverage across multiple client teams.
Essential Functions / Characteristics
Demonstrate understanding and sensitivity to inclusive branding and the diverse backgrounds of the RWU community, including cultural, ethnic, gender, national citizenship, sexual orientation, religious, and socioeconomic traits and preferences.
Adhere to the technical, branding, and style standards of the university.
Experience in the implementation and execution of asset development that embraces and includes diversity across multiple regions, cultures, and generations.
Work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as needed for photo and video shoots, events, and priority coverage.
Must be able to travel as needed for off-campus University-related coverage.
Job Requirements:
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with Marketing Leads, Communications staff, and Creative Services to develop visual storytelling strategies supporting assigned client teams.
Participate in campaign planning meetings and contribute creative concepts that strengthen marketing initiatives.
Produce multimedia assets aligned with annual marketing plans and institutional priorities.
Operate and maintain equipment, including cameras, lighting, and audio recording devices.
Direct talent, interview subjects, and manage on-screen participants to achieve desired outcomes.
Exhibit a high level of professional engagement and creativity in repurposing existing multimedia assets, including video, audio, photography, and graphics.
Edit and enhance raw footage to create polished, professional-quality videos.
Ensure proper audio mixing, color correction, graphics, animations, and visual effects to enhance video content.
Collaborate with graphic designers and other team members to integrate multimedia elements into marketing materials.
Oversee freelance and student worker videographers and photographers.
Maintain an organized DAM media library and archive of multimedia assets.
Publish multimedia content across various platforms, including the university website, social media channels, and email campaigns.
Evaluate engagement metrics across video, photography, and social platforms.
Recommend creative optimizations based on audience behavior.
Identify emerging content trends that improve campaign performance.
Contribute to the overall success of MarCom by being an active team member, contributing to team meetings, and being a positive member of the RWU community.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in design, film, media production, communications, or a related field.
Proven experience in video production, including shooting and editing.
Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) and multimedia production tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, After Effects) is a plus.
Expert knowledge of camera equipment, lighting, and audio recording techniques.
FAA drone certification is a plus. However, the university will fund certification.
Excellent storytelling and scriptwriting skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and project management skills.
