Position Summary
The HR Specialist II plays a key role in supporting and improving HR processes across the employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, payroll administration, HR data management, compliance, and employee engagement. This position requires strong technical capabilities, independent decision‑making, and the ability to collaborate effectively with HR leadership and cross‑functional teams. The ideal candidate brings experience, initiative, and a continuous‑improvement mindset to help advance HR operations at Paligen.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced administrative and operational support to the HR department and leadership, ensuring accuracy and consistency across HR functions.
  • Lead onboarding and offboarding workflows, ensuring compliance, data accuracy, and seamless coordination across IT, payroll, and business units.
  • Maintain and audit HRIS, employee files, and confidential records; recommend improvements to data integrity and record‑keeping processes.
  • Process a broad range of payroll updates including status changes, deductions, timekeeping corrections, multi‑state considerations, and regulatory filings; identify and resolve discrepancies proactively.
  • Review, audit, and reconcile timesheets and timekeeping data; act as a point of contact for employees and managers regarding pay, benefits, and timekeeping policies.
  • Generate recurring and ad hoc HR reports; support data audits, metrics dashboards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support employee engagement programs, training, safety initiatives, and culture‑building activities, often owning defined pieces of these programs.
  • Project manage the Service Award program and platform, recommending enhancements as needed.
  • Project manage the Learning Management System, assigning and tracking training, identifying, modifying, and downloading training onto the platform, prepare communications, and develop and analyze training reports.
  • Assist with policy development, compliance reporting, and required postings; provide recommendations for updates based on regulatory changes.
  • Maintain and update HR intranet content; support the development and enhancement of HR dashboards and employee‑facing resources.
  • Participate in cross‑functional projects and process improvements, bringing data‑driven recommendations and supporting implementation.
  • Serve as a resource to employees and managers by providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience in HR operations, payroll support, talent acquisition, or related HR roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Working knowledge of HRIS, ATS systems, payroll platforms, and timekeeping processes; experience with Power BI or HR analytics tools strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with consistent accuracy when handling data and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and collaboration skills; able to partner across departments and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and a positive employee experience.
