Payroll Specialist
We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a food processing organization in California. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for a payroll specialist who is highly organized, service-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines. The role will manage payroll activities for a varied employee population and help maintain accurate, compliant payroll records while partnering with internal teams to resolve issues efficiently.
Responsibilities:
• Manage weekly and biweekly payroll cycles in Paycom, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule.
• Handle payroll administration for seasonal staff, hourly team members, salaried employees, and other contract workers across the organization.
• Examine timekeeping records, earnings changes, deductions, bonuses, and related payroll entries to confirm accuracy before final processing.
• Perform detailed payroll audits, investigate discrepancies, and correct issues in advance of payroll deadlines.
• Prepare and review payroll, labor, attendance, and compliance reports using Paycom for distribution to appropriate stakeholders.
• Assist with employee onboarding support and maintain payroll-related employee information in a timely and accurate manner.
• Address payroll questions from employees and managers with professionalism, urgency, and a strong customer-service approach.
• Work closely with Human Resources, Finance, and Operations to resolve payroll concerns, support reconciliations, and provide documentation for audits and year-end activities.

Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of hands-on payroll processing experience in a deadline-driven setting.• Practical experience using Paycom for payroll administration and reporting.
• Background supporting payroll for mixed employee groups, including seasonal, non-exempt, and exempt populations.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll and wage-and-hour requirements.
• Ability to create, interpret, and analyze payroll reports with strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organizational skills, sound judgment with confidential information, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Experience in food manufacturing or other high-volume production environments is strongly preferred.
Compensation
